Most of the small towns just outside of the park have rental houses, campgrounds or guesthouses, which are an easy drive away. Summit Adventure Guides operates Westpark Guesthouse, just inside the north edge of the park.

Stock up on groceries in Borgarnes or Stykkishólmur; provisions and restaurants are few and far between in the park.

This large, simple guesthouse makes a handy base for exploring Snæfellsjökull National Park – it’s the only lodging actually in the park, albeit on the edge, near a large TV antenna. It has shared bathrooms and kitchens.
